Each month of the year, BZC hosts a meditation intensive
(a Half-Day Sitting, One-Day-Sitting, Weekend Sitting or a Sesshin.)
A One-Day Sitting is a meditation intensive which goes from 9am to 5pm. It is appropriate for both new and experienced practitioners.
Schedule
The schedule will include 5 periods of zazen with kinhin (walking meditation) in between periods, an outdoor walk on local trails, oryoki lunch, tea service, and a dharma talk by Zenki Roshi.
Information about Oryoki
Oryoki meals are an integral part of BZC’s intensives. Oryoki is a traditional Zen practice of using meals as an opportunity to extend mindfulness practice—or as Zenki Roshi might say: bodyfulness practice—into ordinary daily activity. It is a beautiful ritual of serving and receiving, of mindful and healthy eating, and of cooking and cleaning up.
For those who are new to oryoki practice or need to refresh their knowledge of the forms, instruction will be offered upon request.
